" One of our top priorities is setting up the infrastructure and irrigation canals" - Otar Shamugia paid a visit to the Kvemo Kartli region.

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Otar Shamugia, and State Representative of the Kvemo Kartli region, Mr. Giorgi Dokhturishvili,  got acquainted with the results of the rehabilitation of one of the water distributors of the Khram Canal irrigation system in the Kvemo Kartli region, where state officials held meetings with the local farmers.

The water supply was improved at 1385 hectares of agricultural land area, by repairing the damaged portions of the Khram-canal irrigation system.

According to the local community, the village has had a water problem over the years, and finding a solution is essential for residents.

" One of our top priorities is setting up the infrastructure and irrigation canals. As you know, over the past ten years, we have been implementing significant projects in the mentioned area. Over GEL70 million restoration measures have been carried out only in the Kvemo Kartli region in the past few years.
We have completed the rehabilitation of the Tsereteli canal, which implies that farmers will have a guaranteed water supply at 1,000 hectares of land area.
Over the next four years, over USD 300 million will be spent on these infrastructure projects, which will grow even larger with the help of our four financial institutions and donors," said Mr. Otar Shamugia.

It is worth mentioning that a monolithic iron-edged concrete channel of the trapezoidal section, distribution nodes, and water-blocking shields were arranged on the 2.5-kilometer section of the Tsereteli canal, including 2700 meter-long operational road,  car and pedestrian bridges, with the cost of the project amounting GEL1 million.
