Otar Shamugia: "Currently, up to 15 supporting programs are being implemented in the country, which gradually gives us significant results."

At the parliamentary session, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr Otar Shamugia, presented a report on the activities performed by the Ministry in 2023, including the achieved results.

According to the Minister, the state agricultural development policy aims to support all involved entities - farmers, entrepreneurs, and industry associations, as they are the primary driving force for field development.

State support provides access to cheap funds, promotes the adoption of modern technologies and acquisition of state-of-the-art equipment, ensures re-equipment, and access to modern knowledge so that farmers and entrepreneurs can produce more quality Georgian products, and become more competitive, which provides more income for each citizen and their families involved in agricultural production, and, ultimately, all mentioned above will affect the economic strengthening of the country.

All the programs that have been implemented for years serve this purpose. Currently, about 15 supporting programs are being launched in the country, gradually delivering significant results.

According to Mr. Otar Shamugia, current programs are improved each year based on demand and current challenges, while new programs are developed through active communication with the industry, associations, scientific circles, and farmers.
