Otar Shamugia: "We allocated over GEL 120 million to support farmers in purchasing agricultural equipment".
During the presentation of the report, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Otar Shamugia, underlined the importance of access to modern agricultural equipment for developing agricultural production.
Â
"Years ago, the country experienced a significant shortage of equipment, and farmers could not properly carry out seasonal field works. We allocated more than GEL 120 million to support purchasing equipment, and through co-financing, farmers purchased 7,500 units of farm equipment and implements with various capacities worth more than GEL 440 million.
Â
Moreover, this year, we continue providing support by allocating GEL 20 million in the current year's budget. We finance the purchase of harvesting equipment and have already launched a new program specifically for cooperatives, which allows small farmers to unite and purchase the desired equipment with a fairly high, 50 percent grant co-financing. Sixty-two such cooperatives have already received financial aid, and the program continues," said Mr. Otar Shamugia.
