Otar Shamugia: "This year, more than 4,000 people living in mountainous settlements will receive financial assistance to purchase agricultural equipment."

During his presentation, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Otar Shamugia, emphasized the importance of supporting the population living in high mountain settlements, highlighting the two new initiatives launched by the Ministry.

"Last year, we launched the program for developing entrepreneurial activity in highland settlements. Sixty business ideas have already been funded, with an investment of over GEL 9 million and state co-financing exceeding GEL 4.6 million.

In the second initiative, the state would provide 70 percent grant financing to natural people who own agricultural land areas, to acquire hand tractors (moto blocks) needed for land cultivation and other farming operations this year.

Applications launched on May 21. More than 4,000 applications have been submitted, which means that this year, more than 4,000 people living in mountainous settlements will receive financial support to purchase agricultural machinery," said Mr. Otar Shamugia.
