Otar Shamugia: "We are implementing large-scale initiatives in collaboration with four large international financial institutions; as a result, reclamation services will be improved on over 50,000 hectares."
" Several irrigation and drainage systems, including pumping stations, have become operational again due to the recent restoration/improvement of technical -operational efficiency of reclamation systems in Georgia. Work is underway to organize and improve irrigation and drainage infrastructure.
 As a result, the hydro-meliorated agricultural land area increased from 59,000 hectares to 210,000 hectares. We have launched large-scale projects together with four large international financial institutions, as a result, reclamation services will be improved on more than 50,000 hectares of areas, and the yield will increase by approximately 20-30%", - said the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, stated Mr. Otar Shamugia at the Parliament while submitting the 2023 report.
The Minister also stated that the irrigation sector in the country has become the fourth regulated sector, falling under the control of Georgia's National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission.Â
