Otar Shamugia: "From 2024, the Euro 5 emission standard for cars will be introduced in the country".

During the presentation of the 2023 report to the Parliament, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture discussed several steps taken to minimize atmospheric air pollution, pointing out that the transportation sector is the primary source of hazardous air pollutants.

" We took the most significant steps last year. According to the decision of the Government of Georgia, the Euro 5 emission standard has been introduced for cars since 2024. Moreover, from 2024, a light vehicle that does not meet the Euro 5 emission standard cannot be registered in the country, and the regulation will apply to trucks and buses next year.  Euro 5 standard gasoline has been consumed in the country for seven years, and from 2023, the Euro 5 standard for diesel fuel came into effect in Georgia," said Mr.Otar Shamugia.
