The Deputy Minister of EnvironmentalProtection and Agriculture, Mr. Tengiz Nasaridze, Mayor of Sighnaghi Municipality, Mr. Malkhaz Begiashvili, and Mayor of Lagodekhi Municipality, Mr. Jondo Mdivnishvili met with wheat farmers and representatives of mill companies in Kakheti region.

During the meeting, the parties discussed wheat harvesting, handling, storage, and sales support-related issues.

The conversation touched upon the importance of providing appropriate equipment. According to the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, 30 harvesters of the state company have already been deployed and will be involved in the process if necessary.

"As the wheat harvest has launched, the coordination headquarters created in the Ministry started operations to coordinate and oversee ongoing processes. The Ministry and the private sector are ready to help farmers with harvesting equipment.
I would mention that the Ministry has actively supported and financed farmers in purchasing harvesting equipment over the years.
This program paid off, and, last year, we had no further difficulties during the harvest. We expect a good harvest this year. There is a positive picture in crop quality and yield per hectare ", Mr. Tengiz Nasaridze noted.

According to the Mayor of Sighnaghi municipality, local and central authorities will work together to assist farmers in grain harvesting.

"During the meeting with farmers, we focused on current, organizational issues - such as harvesting, provision of appropriate equipment, and crop handling/ storage. The harvest has already started, and we are confident that the unharvested crop will not be left behind," said Malkhaz Begiashvili.
Local farmers welcome the creation of wheat harvesting centers. Lasha Gonashvili, a wheat and barley farmer, expects a high output and quality.
Harvesting is already underway, and we are optimistic about the outcome. Increasing farmers' knowledge is vital, and we already know who and where to call in case of a disruption", said Lasha Gonashvili.

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Tengiz Nasaridze, inspected the harvesting equipment deployed at the Dedoplistskaro service center of the "Agricultural Logistics and Services Company" LLC and got familiar with the barley harvesting process in the Shiraki Valley.
