EU Mission positively assesses Georgia's Progress in the Agricultural Sector.

The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mrs. Nino Tandilashvili, held a meeting with the representatives of the EU mission who had monitored the implementation of the obligations undertaken by Georgia for 2023 for the fourth phase of the EU-funded European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development, including the components of food safety and rural development.

The evaluators commended Georgia for fulfilling its requirements while reviewing the progress and results achieved in the agricultural sector. The EU representatives shared important recommendations with the Georgian side regarding agriculture and rural development on its path to EU membership.

The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia thanked the EU mission experts for their positive assessment and expressed readiness to continue cooperation in the future.

During the visit to Georgia, the EU mission evaluators held meetings with the representatives of the relevant Departments of the Ministry, the National Food Agency, the Rural Development Agency, and the representatives of the Georgian Amelioration.
Notably, the European Neighborhood Program for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD), one of the most successful programs of the EU, has been running in Georgia since 2013, aiming to support agricultural development in the country, improve the living standards of the rural population, reduce the poverty level, promote employment of the local population, increase the quality/competitiveness of the products produced in Georgia and promote its export to the European Union countries.
