Nino Tandilashvili, First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia held a working meeting.

The Head of the Government Administration, representatives of the National Security Council, Emergency Management Service, Ministries of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Economy and Sustainable Development attended the consultation meeting along with the foreign expert invited as part of the program.

"The goal of the meeting is to provide the attendees with the results and planned activities that we have within the multilateral program funded by the Green Climate Fund, co-sponsored by the governments of Sweden and Switzerland.
The United Nations Development Program implements the program and is the national partner. As you know, this is one of the biggest initiatives currently being implemented in Georgia, involving steps to reduce the risks of climate-related disasters and the development of early warning systems in the country. The beneficiaries of the initiative include numerous Agencies and Ministries involved in the implementation of the program," said the First Deputy Minister of Environmental and Agriculture, Mrs. Nino Tandilashvili.

The working meeting sought to present information regarding the efforts of the National Environmental Agency's specialists in assessing natural hazards across the country.
Additionally, the meeting intended to share the information with various agencies, which was gathered and processed within the project.

During the working meeting, the representatives of the United Nations Development Program introduced the current and planned activities to the beneficiary agencies, including the roles of the relevant agencies, aiming to ensure the efficient introduction of the early warning system.
The discussion covered all aspects of the system, including climate hazard and risk information, hazard monitoring and forecasting, message dissemination and communication, preparedness at the local level, response, and capacity building.

The meeting was held within the framework of the current project supported by the Government of Georgia and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Green Climate Fund, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). The program aims to reduce the risk of floods, landslides, and other climate-induced hydrometeorological and geological disasters and to provide maximum protection for the population and infrastructure facilities.
