New refrigerator warehouse complex for fruit and vegetable is operating in the Shida Kartli region

A new enterprise for storing fruit and vegetable was opened in village, Qvenatkotsa, Kareli municipality. The modern agricultural refrigeration system LTD. ‘’Glenber’’ was created through state support, under the frame of the "United Agro Project".

The enterprise was financed under the frame of the project  " Co-financing of Agro Processing and Storage Enterprises’’. Overall, GEL 5,000,000 was invested in the enterprise, out of which 600,000 GEL is grant and the remaining part is covered by the beneficiary.

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili together with the First Deputy Governor of Shida-Kartli region, Simon Guledani and Ambassador of Israel to Georgia, Mr. Shabtai Tsur got acquainted with the activities and manufacturing process in the refrigerator warehouse complex.

The enterprise is able to store 1,200 tons of different fruits and vegetables per year, furthermore, it has a processing infrastructure and through a unique shock freezing method it can process 10 ton of fruit and vegetables per 24 hours. The product is intended to export to EU markets, Israel, Turkey and Panama.

60 people are employed in the refrigerator complex and more 80 are hired seasonally. By the end of 2018, with the support of the Agriculture Projects Management Agency, International Standards of Food Safety - ISO 22: 000 will be introduced in the company.

Since 2013, through state support, 173 new enterprises have been financed under the frame of the  "United Agro Project". 20 new enterprises were created in Shida Kartli region. The financial support of the state has given the entrepreneurs an additional push to further develop and expand their companies.

The Agricultural Projects Management Agency implements the "United Agro Project", which is targeted at the long-term development and aims to create an environment that will promote and increase the competitiveness of the agricultural sector, stable growth of high quality products and introduction of international standards of food safety.
