Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture: " Wheat yield per hectare and quality indicators have been significantly increased compared to the previous year ".
During the meeting with the representatives of industrial associations and members of the wheat crop coordination center, Mr. Tengiz Nasaridze addressed issues related to wheat harvesting, handling, storing, and selling.
The Deputy Minister emphasized the increase in yield per hectare, noting that, this year, wheat crop is both abundant and high quality.
Â
"Relevant services of the Ministry are in constant communication with the field representatives and receive comprehensive information about harvested and sold crops. In comparison to the previous year, this year, wheat yield is considerably higher per hectare, the quality is much better, and accordingly, the price is higher. Currently, wheat harvesting has come to an end in the Kakheti region, and it will be moved to other regions. We keep close communication with farmers, and in the case of need, we are ready to engage in harvesting with our equipment. It is worth mentioning that this year, wheat harvesting is organized, and I think it will be completed successfully", Mr. Tengiz Nasaridze said.
The Head of the Georgian Wheat and Flour Production Association, Levan Silagava, focused on managing the wheat harvesting process, noting that the wheat harvest coordination center created by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture ensured the organized management of harvesting and simplified procedures for farmers.
During the meeting, Malkhaz Dolidze, the Head of the Georgian Bread Manufacturers Union, spoke about maintaining a stable situation in the country regarding bread products.
"This year, the situation is better compared to previous years. The average wheat yield is 3.5 tonnes per hectare, which is a good indicator.Â
It is significant to mention that the qualitative indicators have increased along with the quantity, and accordingly, we will have high-quality Georgian flour. Considering all the mentioned issues, a stable situation will be maintained in the country regarding bread products", said Malkhaz Dolidze.
