Tengiz Nasaridze - "This year is outstanding in terms of crop yields".

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr.  Tengiz Nasaridze, emphasized the importance of an increase in agricultural yield and high-quality indicators. 

Mr. Nasaridze brought forward peach export /storage-related issues while focusing on wheat and blueberry harvesting.

"In recent years, peaches have been an important export product for farmers in the Kakheti region. It is important to mention that, this year, we have all favorable conditions to ensure seamless sales. Moreover, we are ''in the midst'' of harvesting and selling. Do you know that with the involvement of state structures, a ''special coordination group'' has been created that ensures immediate response in case of disruptions in crop storage and export? Currently, more than USD 16 million worth of peaches have been exported from Georgia.

The state has also supported the creation of storage infrastructure, 30-40 storage points operate in the Gurjaani municipality at this stage, and the peach delivery/sale is still underway. Moreover, we are delighted to observe that farmers are satisfied with the price and quality, and we see that state assistance to Georgian farmers has yielded tangible results over the years, and this support will undoubtedly continue in the future," said Mr.Tengiz Nasaridze. 

According to the Deputy Minister, this year stands out for the abundant harvest of agricultural products, including record-high blueberry production and exports.

Mr. Nasaridze emphasized the share of the EU in Georgia's blueberry exports, noting that blueberries are a top source of revenue for farmers in Western Georgia.

According to the Deputy Minister, this year is also remarkable due to the abundant yield of the strategic product - wheat. 
The wheat quality is excellent, and the crop yield per hectare has increased. According to projections, this year's wheat harvest will be at a record level.
