Otar Shamugia: "Beekeepers can acquire funding and upgrade their inventory under the new program, which allows them to produce higher-quality and more products.''

At the end of the cabinet meeting, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr Otar Shamugia, briefed media representatives on the new beekeeping support program adopted by the Government of Georgia.

"We submitted the draft decree on launching the new program during today's government session. The mentioned program supports beekeepers and allows them to upgrade their inventory. We will provide them with a 50% grant co-financing for purchasing hives. Under the program, beekeepers can upgrade their hives and buy 50% more than they have today.

We allow beekeepers to boost production. Over the years, we have carried out significant measures which enabled us to export honey to the countries of different regions and the European Union market.

All mentioned above have been achieved by reforms, including the enhancement of laboratory capacity, implemented in the country throughout the years.

It is essential to support farmers in this area and assist them in upgrading their hives. For years, we have been implementing agricultural cooperative support initiatives to assist them in producing honey.

The program will apply to both individuals and legal entities. Moreover, the program participants will receive financing and upgrade their inventory and hives to produce quality and more products", Mr. Otar Shamugia said.
