Otar Shamugia: "We strive to ensure a smooth grape harvest settlement and for producers to receive an increased income''.

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Otar Shamugia, visited Ekaterine Mirinashvili’s vineyard in Shielda, Kvareli municipality.
Five years ago, Ekaterine Mirinashvili planted Saperavi grapes on up to one hectare of land area with state support and grant funding, and she is already expecting her second crop.

The winegrower will deliver the grapes to the wine factory this year, similar to last year; however, she plans to produce and export wine in the upcoming years.

"This year, the quality and quantity of our harvest is excellent. Of course, our hard work paid off, and the grapes are of high quality. With state support, I planted a vineyard five years ago, which is already in full swing. I do not own wine production yet, but I plan to have it in the future. At this stage, I deliver the grapes to the factories, " - said Ekaterine Mirianashvili.

Minister Shamugia emphasized the significance of the assistance that has contributed to the development of viticulture and winemaking in Georgia. As mentioned, the state assists at both the manufacturing and sale stages. A Cadastre of vineyards has already been created. Grapes are accepted and delivered following the viticulture cadaster program.

According to data from the National Vineyard Cadastre Program (implemented in 2014 - 2023), the area of vineyards has almost doubled since 2012, with up to 50 thousand hectares of vineyards planted in the viticultural regions of the country and more than 170 thousand plots registered by more than 47 thousand winegrowers.
