Otar Shamugia got acquainted with the grape delivery process in the village of Akura

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr Otar Shamugia, along with Mr Giorgi Aladashvili, the representative of the Kakheti region, got acquainted with the harvesting in the state enterprise "Harvest Management Company" LLC, in Akura village, Telavi municipality.

" The state's active involvement in the Saperavi grapes delivery process is due to the abundant harvest and climatic conditions, which forced grape growers to deliver their grapes to companies as rapidly as possible. Consequently, the volume of recycled grapes increases daily,  and we should permit growers to deliver grapes on time. Therefore, the state is in need of obtaining grapes from different locations and paying the winegrowers properly, " said Minister Shamugia.

It is worth mentioning that the amount of recycled grapes this season is two times more than last year.

Considering the excess harvest and climatic conditions, Saperavi grapes require prompt handling to prevent quality deterioration.
Under the decision of the government of Georgia, "Harvest Management Company" Ltd starts to receive 1 kg of grapes of the Saperavi variety for GEL 1.50 from the winegrowers. At the same time, the government of Georgia will compensate the growers who have delivered the Saperavi grape variety for less than GEL 1.50.

The winegrowers positively evaluate the state's decision, noting that it will be helpful for them.
According to Giorgi Aladashvili, state representative of the Kakheti region, harvest is a celebration in Kakheti.

"The fact that it will be possible to sell the Saperavi grape variety for GEL 1.50 once again confirms that the government is continuously taking care of the development of the industry," said Giorgi Aladashvili.

Mr Gela Samkharauli, Chairman of the Agrarian Issues Committee of the Parliament, and Mr. Irakli Kadagishvili, Majoritatioan MP of Telavi, Akhmeta, Kvareli, and Lagodekhi municipalities, the Chairman of the National Wine Agency, Mr. Levan Mekhuzla and representatives of relevant agencies included in the Ministry's system accompanied the Minister in Kakheti region, where state officials got acquainted with the grape delivery process.
