This year, Georgia has exported hazelnuts worth USD 53.2 million.

From January to September 2024, the value of hazelnuts exported from Georgia increased by USD 5.1 million (by 11%), amounting to USD 53.2 million, compared to last year.

The specified amount includes the current year's hazelnut crop. Notably, the value of this year's hazelnut harvest exported from Georgia from August 1 to September 30, 2024, is 19.6 million US dollars, which is 35% more compared to the same period last year.

During the mentioned period, Georgian hazelnuts are exported mainly to the EU countries - Spain (USD 9.7 million), Italy (USD 5.4 million), Germany (USD 3.8 million), France (USD 3.2 million), and Poland (USD 2.7 million).
In 2024, hazelnut kernels make up 89% of the overall exported hazelnuts, with an export price of 130% more than the export price for raw hazelnuts.

The increase in processed hazelnut exports reflects not only a boost in product quality but also ensures economic benefits, referring to labor force job prospects and the incomes obtained from the processing of the primary products.

It is worth mentioning that the increase in the production and export of hazelnuts is a direct result of the state support programs.

The state has been implementing the hazelnut support program for two years, providing GEL 500 per hectare to hazelnut growers who own and/or have an orchard of at least 0.2 hectares but no more than 3 ha.
This year, around 95,000 farmers have benefited from the program and received more than GEL  21.5 million in targeted assistance. More than 45,000 hectares of hazelnut orchards are registered in the hazelnut cadaster program.

The fight against the Asian stink bug in orchards is being carried out within the framework of the state program. In the current year, 213,750 ha was treated with thermal fogging, while 107,601 ha with cold spraying technology, including installing 7,019 pheromone traps and 153,584 "attract and kill" pheromones.
