Employees from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and the Rural Development Agency recently visited Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, as part of an ongoing development cooperation initiative between Georgia and Lithuania.
Several Lithuanian institutions hosted the Georgian delegation, including the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Paying Agency, the Lithuanian Agricultural Data Center, the Agricultural Agency, the Agricultural Advisory Service, the Plant Protection Service, and the National Land Service Agency under the Ministry of Environment.
During the meetings, both sides discussed the operations, functions, and activities of Lithuanian state agencies, with the Lithuanian representatives sharing insights on their country’s EU membership process.
The discussions emphasized the importance of adhering to EU regulations and establishing robust databases and information systems during the policy drafting.
National legislation's compliance with EU Common Market Organization (CMO) regulations was also highlighted. The parties noted that EU candidate countries should be prepared to adopt market regulatory measures, including legislative initiatives, appropriate institutional frameworks, and well-functioning databases.Â
