At the Georgian Pavilion in Baku, Otar Shamugia, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, hosted the Ministers of Environment from Switzerland, South Korea, Liechtenstein, Mexico, and Monaco.

As part of the ongoing UN Climate Change Conference (COP 29) in Baku, Azerbaijan, at the initiative of the Georgian side, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr Otar Shamugia, met with the member Ministers of the Environmental Integrity Group (EIG) (Switzerland, Georgia, South Korea, Mexico, Liechtenstein, Monaco) at the Georgian Pavilion. 

 

 It is noteworthy that Switzerland currently chairs the Environmental Integrity Group.

According to Mr Shamugia, the EIG addresses significant environmental issues relevant to its member states. 

 

"For me, as the head of the climate policy-making agency, it is essential to share key issues for Georgia with our partners and present a unified, coordinated position in various formats of the UN Climate Change Conference," Mr Shamugia stated.

The Minister further emphasized the importance of presenting a collective voice on the international stage. "The Environmental Integrity Group provides an opportunity to represent the perspectives of both developed and developing countries from a shared platform," he added.

 

During the meeting, the Ministers discussed the priorities of the UN Climate Change Conference COP 29, expressing their shared aspiration for the conference to yield tangible outcomes for countries across all levels of development.
