David Songhulashvili: “Over the next four years, up to GEL 3 billion in financial resources will be allocated to support the agricultural sector.”

David Songhulashvili, the candidate for Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, emphasized the strategic importance of agriculture in Georgia during his speech at a joint session of the Finance and Budget, Sectoral Economy and Economic Policy, Agrarian Issues, Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, and Regional Policy and Self-Government Committees.

“The next phase of agricultural development in Georgia focuses on harnessing its full potential and establishing a clear investment policy. In this process, the development of rural areas and the improvement of the economic conditions of those involved in agriculture are of paramount importance,” he stated.

According to Songhulashvili, the Ministry plans to allocate up to GEL 3 billion over the next four years to support the agricultural sector. He outlined several key areas that will receive special attention:

Enhancing primary agricultural production, processing, and sales;
Introducing modern technologies, facilitating access to services, and fostering new agricultural projects;
Increasing the knowledge and skills of farmers and entrepreneurs while providing them with essential infrastructure;
Strengthening the agricultural insurance system and improving land reclamation services.
These measures aim to promote the sustainable development of agriculture and unlock the sector's full economic potential.
