David Songhulashvili: “We believe we can enhance land reclamation services for 70,000 farms across more than 50,000 hectares. Significant emphasis will also be placed on fostering the development of aquaculture.”

At the joint session of the Finance and Budget, Sectoral Economy and Economic Policy, Agrarian Issues, Environmental Protection, and Natural Resources, and Regional Policy and Self-Government Committees of the 11th Convocation of the Parliament of Georgia, Mr David Songhulashvili, candidate for Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, emphasized the importance of improving land reclamation services and advancing aquaculture development in the country.

“Concerning the modernization and rehabilitation of reservoirs, as well as irrigation and drainage systems, we believe that we will be able to improve land reclamation services for 70,000 farms spanning over 50,000 hectares. Particularly noteworthy is the design and planned construction of an irrigation reservoir on the Ilto River.
As you know, this reservoir will ensure improved water supply across more than 40,000 hectares in the Kakheti region, positively impacting the socio-economic conditions of over 50,000 families engaged in agriculture.

At the same time, significant emphasis will be placed on fostering the development of aquaculture. Supporting the growth of aquaculture production will open new opportunities and attract investors,” stated Mr. David Songhulashvili.
