David Songhulashvili: “According to the DCFTA Agreement, national standards in food safety, veterinary medicine, and plant protection will align with EU requirements by 2028.”

At the joint session of the Finance and Budget, Sectoral Economy and Economic Policy, Agrarian Issues, Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, and Regional Policy and Self-Government Committees, Mr. David Songhulashvili, the candidate for Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, discussed the commitments undertaken under the DCFTA Agreement.

 

“Under the DCFTA Agreement, national standards in food safety, veterinary medicine, and plant protection will be harmonized with EU requirements by 2028. Efforts will continue to strengthen the capacities of the State Agricultural Laboratory, which is a critical component in ensuring safe food for consumers,” stated Mr. Songhulashvili.

 

The ministerial candidate also emphasized the promotion of eco-friendly and climate-smart agricultural practices, along with the expansion of organic production to further enhance sustainability in the agricultural sector.
