David Songhulashvili: “Significant programs focusing on rural development will continue.”
During the joint committee session, Mr. David Songhulashvili, the candidate for Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, outlined the continuation of key agricultural programs aimed at fostering rural development and strengthening the agricultural sector.
The programs include:
Supporting primary agricultural production, processing, and storage-sale processes with accessible and affordable funding for individuals and legal entities;
Promoting rare agricultural professions facing workforce shortages;
Enhancing the agricultural insurance program to mitigate risks for those engaged in agricultural activities;
Encouraging the cultivation of perennial crops;
Developing infrastructure for new processing and storage enterprises and equipping them with modern production lines;
Supporting the primary production of annual crops and the adoption of modern production technologies;
Expanding greenhouse farming;
Co-financing various types of agricultural machinery, including harvesters.
“I would like to emphasize that a modern farm administration system will be established, including a comprehensive farm register and a land plot identification system, built on best international practices. Sustainable pasture management will be regulated through legislative measures, and new, flexible mechanisms will be introduced to encourage cooperation among farmers and producer organizations,” stated Mr Songhulashvili.
