David Songhulashvili: “Marketing campaigns and programs to expand and diversify markets will be launched to increase awareness of Georgian wine and other agri-food products.”
At the joint committee session, Mr. David Songhulashvili, the candidate for Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, emphasized the importance of promoting Georgian wine and developing agricultural exports.
“Marketing campaigns and programs to expand and diversify markets will be initiated to raise awareness of Georgian wine and other agri-food products. By 2028, we anticipate wine exports reaching USD 500 million, agribusiness output growing to GEL 24 billion, and agri-food product exports totalling USD 2.3 billion,” stated Mr. Songhulashvili.
The ministerial candidate also highlighted the progress in viticulture and winemaking, noting significant achievements in recent years. Vineyard acreage has increased by 70%, grape processing capacity has surged from 52,000 tons to 300,000 tons, and wine exports have risen from USD 65 million to USD 259 million. These developments have led to a fivefold increase in the income of winegrowers, from GEL 70 million to GEL 350 million.
