The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, David Songulashvili, addressed the Ministry's achievements and plans as part of the “Ambassadors’ Conference 2024”.

According to the Minister, over the past 12 years, the Government of Georgia has implemented significant, result-oriented measures to promote agricultural development in the country. Looking ahead, the Government aims to enhance the country’s global influence and expand access to international markets over the next four years through close cooperation with international partners. To achieve these objectives, the continuation of reforms and the full utilization of the nation’s resources and potential are essential. The Ministry remains steadfast in its efforts to achieve these goals.

“Several state programs have been successfully implemented to advance the agricultural sector, leading to a substantial increase in the production of high-quality Georgian products. From 2025 to 2028, state support for the sector will see a significant boost, with up to GEL 3 billion to allocate in financial resources,” stated Mr. David Songulashvili.

During the panel discussion, the Minister also emphasized the importance of protecting Georgia’s natural resources, fostering sustainable development, and promoting environmental sustainability. He underlined the Ministry’s commitment to balancing economic growth with environmental preservation.

The Minister highlighted planned marketing initiatives increasing global awareness of Georgian wine and other agricultural products. Programs focusing on market diversification are expected to bolster the export potential of these goods. “By 2028, we expect wine exports will reach $500 million,” Mr. Songulashvili noted.

The Minister emphasized the broader economic strategy of the Georgian Government, emphasizing its focus on enhancing economic freedom and maintaining macroeconomic stability. “The state policy seeks to establish a robust, sustainable, and inclusive economy. Our ultimate goal is to improve the well-being of our citizens and ensure the country’s long-term economic stability, grounded in sustainable development and accelerated economic growth,” said Mr. Songulashvili.
