The inventory process for windbreak (shelter) belts across Georgia will be completed by January 1, 2027.
During the spring plenary session, the Parliament of Georgia adopted a draft amendment to the Law on Windbreaks (shelter belts), extending the inventory process to 2027.

Mrs. Nino Tandilashvili, the First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, presented the amendment.

Mrs. Tandilashvili underlined the importance of conducting the inventory and simultaneously, restoring and planting the windbreaks.Â

 "The National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Land Use Monitoring is actively collaborating with local municipalities and farmers. In the initial phase, we plan to start restoration efforts in the Sagarejo and Dedoplistskaro municipalities on approximately 32 hectares. These are agricultural land areas where windbreak cultivation is crucial for soil protection," the Deputy stated.

The state program for windbreak inventory began in 2021. So far, the inventory has been conducted on ​​6675.53 hectares in 12 municipalities.
