David Songulashvili: “We support the production of high-quality, safe Georgian products through a range of state programs.”
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr. David Songulashvili, along with Mr. Giorgi Aladashvili, State Representative of the Kakheti Region, Mr. Irakli Kadagishvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Regional Policy and Self-Government, and Mr. Giorgi Darchia, Director of the Rural Development Agency, visited the village of Kurdgelauri in the Telavi Municipality. The delegation got familiar with the operations of the “Cold Cheese” enterprise.
The cheese enterprise is a beneficiary of the state program “Preferential Agrocredit”, having received an agricultural loan of GEL 500,000. The enterprise processes 1 tonnes of milk daily, producing various types of cheese, which are sold locally and exported to the United States. The company currently employs 10 people.
During the visit, Minister Songulashvili also met with small-scale cheese producers to discuss sector-specific challenges.
Mr. Songulashvili underlined the importance of government support in promoting the development of Georgian agricultural production and highlighted the positive outcomes achieved. The Minister noted that Georgian high-quality products are increasingly establishing a strong presence in both domestic and international markets, laying the foundation for the broader goal of strengthening the economy and enhancing the well-being of the population.
The state is actively supporting the production of high-quality, safe Georgian products through a variety of programs,” said Mr. Songulashvili.
The Rural Development Agency has been implementing the “Preferential Agrocredit” project for over a decade. The program aims to provide affordable, long-term financial resources to farmers and agribusinesses, supporting improvements across the value chain—from primary agricultural production to processing, storage, and sales.
