Minister David Songulashvili Meets the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan for Climate Change in Baku.

During his official visit to Baku, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr. David Songulashvili, met with Mr. Mukhtar Babayev, the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan for Climate Change.


The parties focused on national and regional strategies to combat climate change, addressing current challenges, and identifying opportunities for enhanced cooperation. Both sides emphasized the importance of joint actions and the exchange of experience in mitigating the impacts of climate change.

Particular attention was given to the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), hosted by Baku in November 2024. 

“I would like to emphasize the importance of holding the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Baku last year and extend my sincere appreciation for your efforts. The leadership of COP29 played a vital role in fostering constructive dialogue on climate change among nations,” said the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.

 

 Mr. David Songulashvili and Mr. Mukhtar Babayev reaffirmed their commitment to promoting climate resilience,  green development, and enhancing international partnerships.

 

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Zurab Pataradze, attended the meeting.
