Minister David Songulashvili Inspects State-Supported Combined Feed Enterprise in Gardabani Municipality.
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. David Songulashvili, visited the combined feed enterprise established by LTD ‘’Smart Feed’’ in the village of Gamarjveba, Gardabani Municipality.
During the visit, the Minister got familiar with the enterprise's production capacities and operations. He emphasized the importance of state support in financing the agricultural processing sector, particularly for enhancing local production.
“In parallel with the development of the livestock and poultry sectors, the demand for agricultural feed is rapidly increasing. It is crucial that this demand meets with the local production to the fullest extent possible. Expanding production boosts local employment and fosters the creation of domestic products, laying the foundation for a stronger national economy,” stated Minister Songulashvili.
LTD "Smart Feed" produces various types of combined feed for livestock and poultry and is a beneficiary of the Rural Development Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
In 2023, the company invested GEL 1.5 million to create a combined feed enterprise, including GEL 400,000 through the state’s Co-financing Program for Processing and Storage Enterprises, and GEL 700,000 from the Preferential Agrocredit program.
Currently, the facility produces 1400 tonnes of combined feed per month, with the output of 700 tonnes. The products are sold on the local market. The enterprise employs 20 people.
In addition, the Rural Development Agency’s Technical Assistance Program co-financed the adoption of the ISO 22000 international food safety standard at the enterprise.
It is worth mentioning that, within the framework of the Preferential Agrocredit Project, 14 agroloans totaling GEL 10.2 million have been issued in the Kvemo Kartli region to support the creation of similar enterprises, with state co-financing exceeding GEL 2.8 million.
The Deputy Minister, Mr. Lasha Dolidze, and the State Representative in the Kvemo Kartli region, Mr. Levan Kharabadze, accompanied the Minister.
