David Songulashvili: “Within the framework of the state program for co-financing processing and storage enterprises, 270 enterprises have been created to date.”
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. David Songulashvili, recently visited the village of Gamarjveba, Dedoplistskaro Municipality, to inspect a canning enterprise established with state support.
The company “Geonaturals” was created through the financial assistance of the Rural Development Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
Overall, more than GEL 1 million was invested in the enterprise, including over GEL 450,000 in Preferential Agro-credit and GEL 370,000 in grant co-financing.
The enterprise permanently employs 40 individuals and, in 2024 alone, produced 1 million cans of canned food under the brand name “Sadili.”
Minister Songulashvili emphasized the growing productivity of Georgia’s agricultural processing sector, noting that the 270 enterprises created under the Rural Development Agency’s co-financing program span a diverse range of industries, including fruit and vegetable processing, nuts, hazelnuts, tea, walnuts, dairy products, fish, meat, and other processing areas.
These enterprises are contributing to the production of high-quality Georgian products that not only compete with imported goods in the domestic market but are also gradually gaining recognition in export markets.
According to the Minister, the company “Geonaturals” stands as a successful example of how state support can stimulate enterprise growth and enhance local production.
Notably, the co-financing program for processing and storage enterprises has co-financed with over GEL 126 million in establishing 270 processing and storage enterprises across Georgia.
The Chairman of the Agrarian Issues Committee, Mr. Gela Samkharauli, State Representative in the Kakheti Region, Mr. Giorgi Aladashvili, and the Deputy Minister, Mr. Lasha Dolidze, accompanied the Minister.
