Mr. David Songulashvili, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, visited a livestock farm in the Sighnaghi Municipality, where he met with local farmers. The Minister visited LTD “White Farm” in the village of Kvemo Bodbe, Sighnaghi Municipality, to learn about its operations and met farmers from Dedoplistskaro and Sighnaghi municipalities.
Mr. Gela Samkharauli, the Chairman of the Agrarian Issues Committee, Mr. Giorgi Aladashvili, the State Representative in the Kakheti Region, and Mr. Lasha Dolidze, the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, accompanied the Minister.
LTD “White Farm” was established through significant state financial support, with a total investment of GEL 15 million, of which GEL 3 million was provided as a Preferential Agro-credit. The farm produces 8.5 tonnes of first-class raw milk daily, which is sold locally.
Minister Songulashvili emphasized the importance of fostering growth in the livestock sector, noting that the state's financial assistance through preferential financial resources has attracted private investment and spurred growth in the industry.
The Minister stated that three new subcomponents were added to the Preferential Agro-credit program in the previous year, which helped to establish and modernize cattle breeding farms across the country.
Moreover, the private sector has the opportunity to purchase high-yielding varieties, upgrade, and re-equip enterprises.
The Minister stressed the importance of maintaining direct communication with farmers and entrepreneurs, explaining that their feedback and assessment on the Ministry's programs are crucial for shaping future policies and measures aimed at agricultural development.
