David Songulashvili Meets the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food of the Kingdom of Spain
As
part of his working visit to France, the Minister of Environmental Protection
and Agriculture, Mr David Songulashvili, held a bilateral meeting with Mr Luis
Planas Puchades, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food of the Kingdom of
Spain. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 92nd General Session of
the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) in Paris.
The
counterpart Ministers discussed current and prospective areas of cooperation
between Georgia and Spain, with a particular focus on enhancing trade in
agricultural products. Minister Songulashvili emphasized that making the most
of Georgia’s access to the EU market remains a strategic priority and a key
avenue for boosting bilateral trade.
He also highlighted the importance of greater private sector engagement and
investment promotion, which would yield mutual benefits for both countries.
“There
is significant potential to deepen our cooperation, particularly in winemaking,
gastronomy, and wine tourism, including exchanging innovative technologies. We
also see great value in launching joint marketing initiatives such as wine
exhibitions, symposiums, and other professional platforms,” noted Minister
Songulashvili.
Minister Luis Planas Puchades invited his Georgian counterpart to visit Spain,
further underscoring the commitment of both sides to strengthen ties.
