David Songulashvili meets with Counterpart Ministers and high-ranking officials from various countries at the UN High-Level Conference in Nice, France.



The UN Secretary-General, Mr. António Guterres, made opening remarks at the UN Conference in Nice, where parties were addressed by French President Mr. Emmanuel Macron, European Council President Mr. António Costa, and European Commission President Ms. Ursula von der Leyen.

 

More than 100 state leaders, environment Ministers, and other high-ranking officials attended the high-level conference.

 

During the conference, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr. David Songulashvili, held meetings with high-ranking officials from participating countries, including Finland’s Minister of Climate and Environment, Mrs. Sari Multala, Iceland’s Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate, Mr. Jóhann Páll Jóhannsson, FAO Director-General, Mr. Qu Dongyu, Paris Mayor, Mrs. Anne Hidalgo, and President of the French National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Mrs. Bruno Fuchs.


 

The parties discussed unified approaches to mitigating the impacts of climate change, protecting biodiversity, preventing plastic pollution, and safeguarding marine environments and resources.


 

Minister David Songulashvili participated alongside First Deputy Minister, Mrs. Nino Tandilashvili in the high-level 2025 United Nations Conference to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development.
