David Songulashvili: “At the UN High-Level Conference, We Discussed Global Mechanisms for Protecting Marine Resources ”.



The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr. David Songulashvili, participated in the UN High-Level Conference in Nice, France. The event, opened by UN Secretary-General Mr. António Guterres, brought together global leaders to address pressing issues related to the world’s oceans.

 

French President Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of the European Council Mr. António Costa, and President of the European Commission Mrs. Ursula von der Leyen addressed the conference, which welcomed over 100 Heads of state, Ministers of Environment, and high-ranking officials from across the globe.

 

“The participation of more than 100 world leaders and senior officials underscores the global urgency of addressing marine pollution, restoring ecosystems, and protecting biodiversity. Moreover, a key focus was the impact of climate change on marine environments. The parties emphasized that meeting these challenges requires a unified international approach and coordinated efforts to implement effective mechanisms for the protection and sustainable use of marine resources, ” stated Minister Songulashvili.
