As part of his working visit to France, David Songulashvili met with Mafalda Duarte, Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund (GCF)
During his working visit to Nice, France, Mr. David Songulashvili, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, held a meeting with Mrs. Mafalda Duarte, Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
The parties discussed ongoing and planned initiatives aimed at reducing the negative impact of climate change in Georgia.
“Georgia’s partnership with the Green Climate Fund (GCF) began in 2016. Since then, we have been implementing several joint projects in various areas.
The GCF has funded two national projects to implement climate change mitigation and adaptation measures in Georgia. We are also involved in the fund’s regional projects. We hope that fruitful cooperation with the Green Climate Fund will continue in the future,” said Mr. David Songulashvili.
Mrs. Mafalda Duarte positively assessed Georgia’s progress in climate-related issues and expressed her readiness to further strengthen GCF support to Georgia, especially in promoting climate-smart agriculture and sustainable water resources management.
The meeting with the Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund took place within the framework of a high-level conference organized by the UN, where Minister Songulashvili held bilateral meetings with his counterpart Ministers from different countries.
The First Deputy Minister, Mrs. Nino Tandilashvili, accompanied the Minister at the UN conference.
