During an official visit to Hungary, David Songulashvili, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, met with Csaba Lantos, Hungary’s Minister of Energy. The two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

The signing ceremony took place during an official visit to Hungary by a Georgian Government Delegation led by Prime Minister Mr. Irakli Kobakhidze. The Delegation included Mr. David Songulashvili, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.

 

During his official visit to Hungary, Minister Songulashvili met with Mr Csaba Lantos, Hungary’s Minister of Energy, and the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

 

The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral collaboration in key areas such as effective waste management and the development of a circular economy.

 

“We are grateful for your unwavering support and constructive cooperation.   Adopting a circular economy is a strategic priority for the Georgian government on the path to sustainable economic development of our country. This process has already begun with the active involvement of our international partners. 



I would emphasize the importance of knowledge exchange regarding Hungary’s waste management practices and acknowledge Hungary’s commitment to raising public awareness as a crucial component for successful environmental policy,” stated Mr. David Songulashvili.

 

The Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and the Hungarian Ministry of Energy lays the groundwork for a structured partnership in environmental protection and climate change.

 

''This Memorandum marks a significant milestone in our partnership with Hungary’s Ministry of Energy. It provides a solid and organized framework for effective and targeted cooperation,” Minister Songulashvili noted. 

 

The mentioned Agreement aims to foster cooperation in several key areas, including:

 

Integrated water resources management

 

Development of river basin management plans

 

Climate change mitigation and adaptation measures

 

Exchange of experience and best practices

 

Information sharing on environmental protection legislation, strategies, and planning.
