Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, David Songulashvili, participated in the second session of the Georgia-Hungary Intergovernmental Commission, co-chaired by the Prime Ministers of Georgia and Hungary, held in Budapest.

"Strong historical, cultural, and political ties bind Georgia and Hungary. In recent years, our cooperation has grown significantly across various sectors, particularly in agriculture and environmental protection," the Minister stated.

In April 2025, the Session of the Georgia-Hungary Intergovernmental Economic Commission, a business forum, and sectoral working group meetings were held. These engagements demonstrate that we are taking concrete steps to transform our bilateral relations into tangible results," Mr. Songulashvili noted, expressing gratitude to the Hungarian government for its active and effective collaboration, especially in aligning with EU legislation.

“We welcome Hungary’s readiness to allocate a sectoral expert to assist the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia in meeting European integration requirements, regarding agricultural and rural development standards. This support will be instrumental in advancing crucial matters such as ensuring the quality standards of agricultural products," noted the Minister.
Mr. Songulashvili also emphasized the importance of sharing expertise and promoting academic collaboration through student and academic staff exchange programs.

“We are looking forward to concrete initiatives that will enable Georgian students to study in Hungary's educational institutions in the fields of agriculture and environmental protection. I am confident that our cooperation will deepen even further. Georgia and Hungary will be able to explore new opportunities in both agriculture and environmental protection,” said David Songulashvili during the second session of the Georgia-Hungary Intergovernmental Commission held in Budapest.
