David Songulashvili: “Construction of a New National Environmental Agency Building to Commence Soon in Kutaisi ”.
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. David Songulashvili, visited the Imereti Regional Office of the National Environmental Agency and held a working meeting with its staff.
The Imereti Regional Office hosts several key structural units, including the Imereti Regional Hydrometeorological Observatory, the Regional Geological Division of Western Georgia, and the Department of Environmental Pollution Monitoring of the Imereti Laboratory.
“The construction of a new building in Kutaisi, which will serve both administrative and laboratory functions for the National Environmental Agency, will begin shortly. This facility will house state-of-the-art laboratories and an observatory, significantly enhancing our scientific and research capabilities. Strengthening institutional capacity in the environmental sector—and thereby enabling effective and timely responses to ongoing challenges and processes—is a top priority for us,” stated Minister Songulashvili.
According to Mrs. Elene Ghubianuri, Head of the National Environmental Agency, the new regional office will enable the expansion of research activities using the latest methodologies, bolster field geological and hydrological teams, attract new specialists, and support the implementation of the state internship program.
The Deputy Minister, Mr. Kakha Kakabadze, and Mr. Levan Zalkaliani, State Representative in the Imereti Region, accompanied the Minister.
