Development of the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) Begins.

The first informational meeting was held within the framework of the project “Global Biodiversity Framework – Early Action Support.” The project aims to support the development of the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP).

 

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mrs. Nino Tandilashvili, attended the meeting. According to the Deputy Minister, the NBSAP will define the country’s key priorities for biodiversity conservation in the coming years. 


 The Environmental Information and Education Centre is implementing the project in cooperation with the Biodiversity and Forestry Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia. The project is supported by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) through financial assistance from the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

 

The National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) will be aligned with the requirements of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF).
