David Songulashvili Meets with Farmers to Observe Peach Harvest in Kanda Village

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. David Songulashvili, visited the village of Kanda in the Mtskheta Municipality to observe the ongoing peach harvest at the orchard operated by “Kanda Agrikalchar.” During the visit, the Minister met with local farmers to discuss their current challenges and needs.

“Kanda Agrikalchar,” a beneficiary of the Rural Development Agency, has cultivated a variety of fruit orchards—including almond, apple, pear, nectarine, peach, plum, and apricot—across 110 hectares. The company primarily sells its produce on the local market.

The visit highlighted the importance of state support in boosting agricultural productivity. Through the "Plant the Future" program, the Rural Development Agency has invested over GEL 200 million to establish new perennial orchards across more than 25,000 hectares nationwide. Of this, GEL 2.6 million has been allocated for the development of 359 hectares of orchards in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region.
