During His Visit to Georgia, the Minister of Agriculture of Israel Visited a Modern Greenhouse in the Village of Tsilkani

 
Israeli Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Avi Dichter, Israeli Ambassador to Georgia, Mr. Hadas Meitzad, and Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr. Lasha Dolidze, visited the experimental-demonstration base of Tsilkni annual crops, which uses hydroponic technology.


Hydroponics enables crops to grow without soil, increasing productivity and farmer income. The Tsilkani hydroponic greenhouse was established in 2023 with support from the Israeli Embassy.


‘’We focus on deepening international cooperation and sharing experience to provide farmers with current knowledge and increase competitiveness. Trainings in Israeli-supported hydroponic greenhouses enable farmers and students to learn innovative technologies and benefit from best practices,” said Deputy Minister, Mr. Lasha Dolidze. 


Minister Avi Dichter emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral agricultural cooperation. In discussing long-term goals, he highlighted the need to establish a demonstration hub where Georgian and international experts, agronomists, and farmers can exchange knowledge and experience.

 

Mr. Levan Ujmajuridze, Director of the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture, introduced the delegation to the ongoing activities at the base and the implemented projects within the greenhouse.


"The Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture is actively working on the adoption of hydroponic technologies. The modern greenhouse established with the support of the Israeli Embassy has become an important training hub for farmers and students. The experimental base hosts training sessions and informational meetings aimed at promoting innovative methods and sharing practical knowledge,” stated Mr. Ujmajuridze.
