An informational meeting on environmental protection and waste management was held with school students.
With the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, an informational meeting on environmental protection and waste management issues was held at the Environmental Information and Education Centre.
The meeting aimed to introduce students to the national waste management policy and discuss the importance of implementing measures for reducing plastic pollution.
Together with Mr. Lasha Inauri, Head of the Department of Waste and Chemical Substances Management Policy at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, participants discussed the impact of excessive plastic use on human health and the environment, the challenges the country faces, and the steps that have already been taken in this direction.
Mr. Inaouri emphasized the importance of youth involvement in environmental issues and raising environmental awareness:
“It is crucial that students develop an understanding from an early age of how serious a problem waste accumulation and plastic pollution are. Environmental awareness must begin in school so that, in the future, every young person becomes a responsible citizen and makes caring for the environment an integral part of their everyday behavior,” Mr. Inauri stated.
The students actively participated in the discussion, asked questions, and shared their own opinions on promoting an eco-friendly lifestyle and reducing waste.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment from all participants to make small but meaningful changes in their daily lives to help reduce waste and support recycling efforts.
