David Songulashvili: “The Environmental Supervision Department will have a New Office in Guria by the End of the Year”
Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. David Songulashvili, visited Ozurgeti Municipality to inspect the ongoing construction of the new office of the Environmental Supervision Department and met with the Department’s staff.During the meeting, the parties mentioned that the construction of the Guria office is part of the broader effort to strengthen the Environmental Supervision Department and one of its key regional divisions: the Adjara and Guria Regional Division.
“To enhance the effectiveness of environmental control, we are enhancing the Environmental Supervision Department, which includes the construction and rehabilitation of regional offices. The construction of the regional office will be completed by the end of this year. A comfortable work environment and improved conditions will further increase the motivation of our employees,” stated Minister Songulashvili.
Notably, particular attention is being paid to combating poaching and the illegal extraction of natural resources in Guria. Given the region’s geographic location, one of the top priorities is the protection of the Black Sea.
The construction of the Environmental Supervision Department’s Guria Office began in November 2024. The project, valued at GEL 970,000, involves the construction of a two-story, modern, well-equipped building that will accommodate the staff of the Guria Division.
Minister Songulashvili was accompanied by Deputies of the Minister, Mr. Kakha Kakabadze and Mr. Zurab Ezugbaia, the State Representative in Guria, Mr. Giorgi Gurjumelidze, and representatives of local self-governments.
