Minister David Songulashvili Visits the National Environmental Agency’s Adjara Regional Office and Holds a Working Meeting with Staff
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. David Songulashvili, along with the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Mr. Sulkhan Tamazashvili, and the Minister of Agriculture of Adjara, Mr. Denis Salukvadze, visited the Adjara Regional Office of the National Environmental Agency.The Adjara Regional Office houses several key structural units, including the Department of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Biodiversity, the Batumi Laboratory of the Environmental Pollution Monitoring Department, and the Adjara Regional Hydrometeorological Observatory.
The regional office operates state-of-the-art laboratories for conducting analysis of atmospheric air, water, and soil, as well as microbiological, hydrobiological, and ichthyological laboratories. All mentioned facilities are equipped with ultra-modern instruments and research-specific infrastructure, ensuring high-quality scientific studies.
“The Adjara Regional Office of the National Environmental Agency operates laboratories equipped with the latest technology. These laboratories conduct research on soil, air, and water quality, including the Black Sea, and monitor biodiversity. Strengthening the institutional and technical capacity of the National Environmental Agency is one of our top priorities in implementing our environmental policy. Similar projects are already underway in the city of Kutaisi to establish laboratories with advanced infrastructure and capabilities,” stated Mr. David Songulashvili, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
According to Mrs. Elene Ghubianuri, Head of the National Environmental Agency, there are plans to further expand the scope of research on the Black Sea in the Batumi Regional Laboratories and adopt the latest analytical methods in the near future.
The Deputies of the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Zurab Ezugbaia and Mr. Kakha Kakabadze, attended the meeting.
