David Songulashvili: “Strengthening the Regional Divisions of the Environmental Supervision Department in Adjara and Guria is of Particular Importance”
During his working visit to Batumi, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. David Songulashvili, met with the staff of the Adjara and Guria Regional Divisions of the Environmental Supervision Department, as well as the Black Sea Protection Division. The Minister also reviewed the ongoing renovation works at the office.“Strengthening the regional divisions of the Environmental Supervision Department in Adjara and Guria is of particular importance. Unlike other regions, alongside combating illegal logging and poaching, a key priority here is the protection of the Black Sea — including the prevention, detection, and elimination of pollution and illegal use of natural resources.
It is essential to ensure that the divisions are properly staffed and equipped, and provided with adequate infrastructure and working conditions to achieve effective results. Every possible effort is being made in this direction,” stated Mr. David Songulashvili, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
As mentioned, Batumi is one of the four major cities in Georgia where the Environmental Supervision Department regularly conducts visible vehicle emission control on the roads.
The Minister was accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Mr. Denis Salukvadze; Deputies of the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Zurab Ezugbaia and Mr. Kakha Kakabadze; and the Head of the Environmental Supervision Department, Mr. Levan Jgharkava.
