The Minister also met with citrus farmers and learned about the ongoing processes.

“We are expecting  an excellent bounty of citrus this year. The primary task is to store the crops in an organized manner. In this regard, we are coordinating with the Ministry of Agriculture of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara. The seamless operation of the coordinating center is essential and we share all successful experiences in this direction,” said Mr. David Songulashvili.

According to the decision of the Adjara government, this year, the state subsidy for industrially processed (non-standard) tangerines will be 35 tetri. The enterprise will pay 5 tetri; accordingly, the price of tangerines intended for industrial processing will be 40 tetri.

The citrus harvest is expected to reach 60–65 thousand tonnes, based on prediction data. Export tangerines will be accepted by over 20 citrus reception and processing companies, while non-standard fruits will be processed in limitless numbers by two canning facilities in the city of Kobuleti.
