A further working meeting was held in Telavi to select sites for the construction of new regional non-hazardous waste disposal facilities.

The Administration of the State Representative hosted the meeting, where parties discussed the current condition of the existing old landfills in the region and the issue of replacing them with new regional non-hazardous waste disposal facilities.

The meeting, hosted by the State Representative's Administration, focused on reviewing the current state of the old landfills in the region and their replacement with new regional non-hazardous waste disposal facilities.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Solomon Pavliashvili, Deputy Minister of Regional Development, Mr. Levan Zautashvili, State Representative in the Kakheti Region, Mr. Giorgi Aladashvili, Director of the “Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia,” Mr. Mikheil Gogoladze, and heads of the municipalities.
 

According to Mr. Pavliashvili, the implementation of new projects will contribute to the improvement of both the ecological and infrastructural conditions in the region.

“Creating an environmentally clean environment is our priority. Accordingly, we are actively working in relevant directions, including the adoption of modern approaches to waste management. We continue close cooperation with municipalities and other stakeholders. Joint efforts will enable us to replace outdated landfills with modern, state-of-the-art waste disposal facilities. Implementing these new projects will improve both ecological and infrastructural conditions. During the working meeting in the municipality, the existing challenges were identified. With the active involvement and coordinated work of all stakeholders, we will be able to address them,” stated Mr. Solomon Pavliashvili.

 Alongside the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the Ministry of Regional Development is also actively involved in the ongoing working meetings on the selection of sites for the construction of new waste disposal facilities. According to Deputy Minister, Mr. Levan Zautashvili, the operation of modern waste disposal facilities will play a significant role in the development of regional infrastructure.
 

The Director of the “Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia,” Mr. Mikheil Gogoladze, emphasized that the company aims to manage waste according to international standards, thereby improving the well-being of the population.

 
“We continue our efforts to select appropriate locations for the construction of new regional non-hazardous waste disposal facilities. Our goal is to manage generated waste in line with European standards. Therefore, through joint efforts, we will take all necessary steps to implement the projects in the shortest possible timeframe, which will primarily benefit the population,” said Mr. Mikheil Gogoladze.
