The Jighaura Perennial Crops Base Hosts Government Delegation from the Republic of Azerbaijan
The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Lasha Dolidze, and Deputy Director of the LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture, Mr. Nodar Khatiashvili, welcomed the Azerbaijani Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Medjun Mammadov, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Georgia, Mr. Faig Guliyev, and other Azerbaijani officials to the Jighaura Perennial Crops Experimental and Demonstration Base.During the visit, Mr. Nodar Khatiashvili provided the delegation with an overview of current scientific research activities at the Jighaura Perennial Crops Base.
“During the meeting with members of the Azerbaijani governmental delegation, special attention was given to plans for the future, including exchange programs in the field of scientific research. Both sides expressed readiness to intensify cooperation, which will significantly strengthen the scientific potential of the agricultural sectors of both countries and support the adoption of innovations,” stated Nodar Khatiashvili.
The delegation also toured the museum space located on the premises, where exhibits reflecting the centuries-old history of Georgian viticulture and winemaking are displayed, including ampelographic descriptions, traditional agricultural tools, and archival materials.
The event also featured a thematic exhibition showcasing crops produced by the Center, including samples of annual and perennial varieties cultivated on its premises, products made from local cultivars, and cocoons from various mulberry silkworm breeds.
Guests tasted wines made from the Jighaura base’s collection of Georgian grape varieties and learned about the specific technological features of their production.
