David Songulashvili Meets David Bitan, Head of the Israel–Georgia Friendship Group and Chair of the Knesset Economic Affairs Committee

“Georgia has emerged as one of the region’s leading destinations for investment. Ongoing successful reforms, macroeconomic stability, and a significantly improved business environment create favourable conditions for bilateral cooperation. Georgia is a transparent, corruption-free investment destination. Minimal bureaucracy and a low tax burden ensure a highly attractive investment climate,” stated the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. David Songulashvili, during a meeting with representatives of the business sector in Tel Aviv.

The meeting, organized by the Israel–Georgia Chamber of Commerce, was attended by around 20 members of the business community.

The Minister spoke about Georgia’s agri-food potential, noting that state policies have facilitated private-sector growth, which in turn has contributed to the steady expansion of agri-food production and exports. According to the Minister, market diversification remains another priority for Georgia: while several years ago Georgian agri-food products were exported to approximately 80–85 countries, in 2024 this number increased to nearly 100.

At the meeting, Mr. Songulashvili emphasized that agriculture is one of the key pillars of Georgia’s economy, stating that over the past decade, the Government of Georgia has devoted particular attention to supporting this sector through increased financing, preferential financial instruments, the adoption of modern technologies and sharing international best practices; while also noted that the results clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of these efforts, as Georgia continues to successfully export its agricultural products.

The Minister briefed participants on Georgia’s strategy for strengthening international trade relations in the agricultural sector and outlined the main priorities. He underscored the rational and efficient use of land and water resources, the enhancement of agricultural services, and the promotion of new and innovative projects.

He highlighted Georgia’s recent progress in aquaculture and greenhouse farming, areas where Israel’s experience is particularly valuable. Mr. Songulashvili expressed readiness to further deepen cooperation and emphasized new opportunities for engagement with international partners.

The meeting concluded with a Q&A session, during which business representatives expressed strong interest in Georgia’s investment environment and in state-supported projects.

The meeting with business-sector representatives was attended by Deputy Minister Mr. Lasha Dolidze, Georgia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the State of Israel, Mr. Zaza Kandelaki, and Georgia’s Honorary Consul, Mr. Meni Ben Ishai, alongside Minister David Songulashvili.
