David Songulashvili: “Our visit to the State of Israel aims to further deepen and at the same time expand the long-standing cooperation between our two countries.”

As part of the visit to the State of Israel, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr. David Songulashvili, along with members of the Georgian delegation, held a series of important meetings.

We reaffirmed the strong partnership between our countries and our shared commitment to expand cooperation. Israel remains a global leader in agricultural innovation, technology, and research, providing valuable opportunities for collaboration.

During meetings with my counterpart Ministers, we discussed key areas of cooperation: prioritizing training programs and joint research projects, including enhancing collaboration in water management, conducting climate-resilient crop trials, and adopting modern technologies to boost productivity.

At the meeting with the Minister of Environmental Protection of the State of Israel, it was emphasized that the world faces complex environmental challenges that demand decisive action. Israel is a leader in water-resource management, early warning systems, and environmental innovation. Georgia sees significant potential for developing practical cooperation in these fields.

A particularly important part of the visit was our meeting with the newly elected Speaker of the Knesset. I wish to highlight the key role that parliamentary cooperation plays in strengthening the strategic relationship between Georgia and Israel, especially in economic and sectoral reforms. I would also like to thank the Head of the Israel–Georgia Friendship Group in the Knesset, Mr. David Bitan, who has made a substantial contribution to enhancing Georgia–Israel relations. Georgia stands ready to deepen cooperation with Israel, and the Knesset’s Georgia Friendship Group can play a constructive and positive role in this process.

We also held a meeting with representatives of the business community. Georgia is one of the region’s leading countries in terms of investment attractiveness. Macroeconomic stability and a significantly improved business environment create excellent opportunities for bilateral cooperation. Georgia enjoys free trade agreements with numerous countries, and we continue to expand our foreign trade relations, attracting new investors and partners eager to engage with the growing opportunities our country offers.

As part of the visit, together with the Georgian delegation, we also had the opportunity to meet Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem and extend our congratulations on the 20th anniversary of his enthronement,” stated Mr. David Songulashvili, while summarizing his visit to the State of Israel.

During his working visit to the State of Israel, Minister Songulashvili held official meetings with the Israeli Minister of Agriculture and Food Safety, Mr. Avi Dichter, during which a Declaration of Intent was signed. Meetings were also held with the Minister of Environmental Protection, Mr. Idit Silman; the Speaker of the Knesset; the heads of the Israel–Georgia Friendship Group and the Knesset Economic Committee; and representatives of the business sector. The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia also visited the Israeli National Agricultural Research Institute (Volcani Center).
