UNESCO has added “Georgian Wheat Culture: Traditions and Rituals” to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

‘’UNESCO’s decision today reaffirms Georgia’s deep and centuries-old cultural heritage. As a nation shaped in one of the cradles of civilization, Georgia continues to enrich global values, particularly in agriculture, as reflected in the international recognition of its ancient traditions of Georgian winemaking and wheat cultivation.

Georgian wheat is a vital part of our nation's tangible and intangible heritage. Its history spans millennia and holds national and global significance, as affirmed by UNESCO today’’, stated Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture David Songulashvili.
